Cursor

This is a community package of Cursor, maintained independently and unaffiliated with Anysphere. It repackages the official upstream Linux Debian build unmodified.

Cursor is an AI code editor built on VS Code. It keeps the editor, extensions and keybindings you already know, and adds model-driven editing: an agent that carries out multi-step work across a codebase, inline edits from a prompt, multi-line autocomplete, and a chat that can read the project you have open.

• Hand the agent a task and review the edits it proposes across files.
• Rewrite a selection from a natural-language instruction, in place.
• Ask questions about the open project, with the relevant code in context.
• Import your VS Code extensions, themes and settings in one step.

An account with Anysphere is required for the AI features, and paid plans apply beyond the free tier; the editor itself is free to install.

Permissions: this package grants network, display, GPU, audio, notifications and keyring access, and your home directory. An IDE is pointed at source trees wherever they already live, and Cursor keeps its extensions, CLI state and agent rules in ~/.cursor, so the home grant is what makes the editor, the integrated terminal and the agent agree on what a path means. To narrow it to one tree instead:

The editor shells out to developer tools that no Flatpak runtime ships. This package puts a bridge on the app's PATH that forwards those commands to the same tools on your host, so your existing Git, language toolchains and test runners — and the credentials you have already authorized there — are what run in the integrated terminal and under the agent. FlatPark does not bundle or authenticate any of them. Commands that the sandbox provides itself, including the shell and coreutils, keep running inside it.

Updates come through Flatpak: this package tracks upstream's own download endpoint, so a new upstream build arrives with flatpak update. Cursor's built-in updater stays switched off here, the same way it is in the Debian build this package repackages.
